You are only as young as your spine is flexible. If your spine is inflexibly stiff at 30, you are old. If it is completely flexible at 60, you are young.

Pilates
Kate has seen miracles with the Pilates Method. A longtime practitioner and instructor, she is a certified Mat Instructor and a Stott Pilates trained Cadillac instructor. The Pilates Method of Contrology was developed by Joseph Pilates to rehabilitate men and women who were bed-ridden by attaching springs to hospital beds. The Pilates Method of body conditioning trains balance and assists participants to alleviate back pain and improve posture through stability, mobility and flexibility. The method works to inform the body of 5 basic principles of alignment for the breath, the pelvis, ribcage, shoulder blades as well as head and neck placement.
Pilates offers overall body conditioning while strengthening and lengthening the core muscles along the spine out to the extremities. Strengthening the core muscles of the trunk in a lengthened state offer back support and assist in a tall, upright posture.
Kate likes to utilize props such as springs, bars, stability balls, Bosu, discs and soft rollers to assist clients to strengthen the abdominals within their range. The combination of Pilates and facilitated stretching in a workout regimen helps clients to maintain their height, improve strength and posture. Kate is apart of the skilled pilates team at Essex Pilates + Wellness in Essex.
